Hair Salon Due Diligence Checklist Template

This hair salon checklist template helps buyers test whether salon revenue belongs to the business or to individual stylists before purchase.

Use it as a printable due diligence checklist with Yes / No verification and a 0-100 risk score. Stylist dependency, weak client transfer, unclear contractor status, appointment-system risk, and lease uncertainty should increase the score.

Printable checklist format

  • Financial records: booking exports, deposits, tax filings, cash logs, product sales, payroll, and stylist-level revenue.
  • Client evidence: rebooking rate, client database transfer, reviews, redo history, refunds, and customer concentration by stylist.
  • Staff transfer: stylist agreements, contractor status, retention risk, schedule coverage, and owner labor replacement.
  • Compliance review: cosmetology licenses, salon permit, sanitation records, insurance, lease assignment, and permitted use.

Yes / No decision structure

  • Mark Yes only when booking, client, staff, and lease claims are supported by records.
  • Mark No when revenue depends on stylists who have no retention plan or when the client database cannot transfer.
  • Record the estimated revenue impact if one or more senior stylists leave after closing.

Risk scoring system

  • 0-40: Lower risk. Stylist revenue, client transfer, licensing, lease, and systems are mostly verified.
  • 41-70: Medium risk. Require retention agreements, transition support, or price adjustment.
  • 71-100: High risk. Do not buy if key stylists, clients, or legal rights are not transferable.
